Wood Species
Walnut is a dark rich hardwood that is an industry standard. Excellent
laser properties, but requires back filling to accent laser area. Grain pattern varies
from wavy to straight, consistent hard density.
Red Alder is light in color, tan to golden, offering excellent color contrast
for laser engraving without the need for color filling. Grain pattern wavy to straight.
Consistent medium density. The combination of light color, high color contrast and ease of
laser ability offers award dealers with or without laser engravers another dimension for
filling their customers needs. Color back filling not necessary
Red Oak is light in color, ranging from golden to pink, offering moderate
color contrast for laser engraving. Grain density varies from porous to dense, requires
some experience to get the proper look when laser engraving. Color filling is not
recommended.
Cherry is light in color, ranging from pale / tan to pink. Excellent laser properties.
Grain pattern varies from wavy to straight. Consistent hard density.Cherry can also have
dark brown streaks called gum pockets, that can flare up slightly when laser engraved.
Cherry plaques will have limited gum pockets. Color back filling not necessary. |
